اَلْبَلَاغَةُ الْعَرَبِيَّةُ

Arabic Rhetoric COURSE البلاغة العربية

If I asked you to close your eyes and imagine the word I am about to pronounce to you right now, “car”, tell me:

What did you imagine? What type is it? What color is it? What is its condition? Is it new or old? What is the power of its engine? Even though I did not provide you with any of these details, your mind volunteered and added details to the general and incomplete image.

Our minds are programmed not to accept the incomplete and to work on completing it. Therefore, the word “البلاغة” comes from the root “ب ل غ”, meaning to reach completeness (of maturity and perfection). In fact, the word “بلاغة” does not mean the famous translation that signifies the beauty of speech, but rather, as I have shown you, it means reaching completeness and perfection.

In this course we will study:

-Science of “البديع”

-Science of “البيان”

-Semantics “المعاني”

And applications of each science with many linguistic exercises. Because rhetoric is based on application more than theory.

Arabian NAHW "Grammar" COURSE

The Arabic language does not rely on the order of words to construct a sentence as in modern European languages; rather, it relies on the Connection of words. The sign of “Dhamma” on nouns in the presence of a verb means that this noun was the cause of the existence of the verb (its subject), and it does not matter whether this noun, the subject, is arranged after the verb directly in the sentence. For example, you can say “Eat the mouse the catُ”.

Therefore, do not enter the grammar course with the mentality of the English language and its way of imagining meanings, but enter with the Arabic concept. However, let me help you with that.

The books studied gradually:

  • AlA’jorromyyah
  • Annahw Alwadeh
  • Sharh Ibn ‘aqeel ‘ala AlAlfeyyah

In general, the study here in this course is based on understanding and training, and as I always tell my students in the grammar course: 25% theoretical and 75% practice.
